Coffee & cocoa traceability in Mubende, Uganda

Mubende, at 1,400–1,600 metres, is AVN Earth's first live origin: Arabica and Robusta coffee, and Rwenzori cocoa, with first farms enrolling now. Every plot is GPS-mapped and verified against deforestation baselines by our own field technicians, not a third-party certifier working from satellite data alone.

How AVN verifies Mubende plots

A field technician GPS-maps every plot boundary and records producer identity in person, at farm level. Each plot is checked against the EU's deforestation-free baseline, and anything that doesn't clear the December 2020 cut-off is flagged before it enters the supply chain. Every record lands in the AVN Earth dashboard, searchable by plot, lot, producer or shipment — and turns into a Due Diligence Statement ready to file with TRACES NT.

Beyond the statutory minimum

Mubende is also where AVN's own Unity Bean supply chain sets a higher bar than EUDR requires: water use and erosion risk recorded at watershed scale, verified value-share so producers see a documented return, and labour records logged at source.

Economic fairness

Verified value-share records are published per lot, so Mubende producers see a documented, fair return before shipment.

Labour made visible

Harvest-season labour records are logged at source, creating a documented trail instead of relying on verbal assurances.

Water at watershed scale

Water use and erosion risk are recorded per farm around the Mubende watershed, helping buyers understand environmental impact at source.
