EUDR deadline
The EUDR deadline is 30 December 2026. Here's what happens if you miss it.
From 30 December 2026, large and medium operators placing regulated commodities on the EU market, or exporting from it, must hold a valid Due Diligence Statement. AVN builds the plot-level evidence behind that statement, at the source, before the deadline tightens further.
What the deadline actually requires
EUDR (the EU Deforestation Regulation) requires operators and traders placing coffee, cocoa, cattle, palm oil, rubber, soy or wood products on the EU market — or exporting them from it — to submit a Due Diligence Statement showing the goods are deforestation-free, produced legally, and traceable to a specific, geolocated plot. 30 December 2026 is the compliance date for large and medium operators; smaller operators are given additional time under the regulation.
What happens if you miss it
Once the deadline passes, operators without plot-level evidence face real, enforceable consequences, not just a compliance warning:
- Shipments blocked at the EU border pending evidence you may not be able to produce in time
- Customs delays that ripple through contracted delivery windows and buyer relationships
- EUDR fines of up to 4% of EU-wide annual turnover for non-compliant operators
AVN provides supplier evidence and structured due-diligence records. Operators remain responsible for their own legal filings and compliance decisions.
What about the UK?
The UK is developing its own forest-risk commodity regime under the Environment Act 2021. It is proposed, not yet in force, and expected to closely mirror EUDR from around 2027. Businesses that build EUDR-ready plot-level evidence now will already be prepared once the UK regime is confirmed in law — there's no separate evidence standard to build later.
Waiting is the risk, not the deadline
Buyers are already asking suppliers for evidence before they sign 2027 contracts. The businesses that can already produce a Due Diligence Statement are the ones getting chosen first — acting before the deadline is a competitive edge, not just risk avoidance.
